Sculpture
During an exchange in Santa Barbara I started collecting discarded objects from the streets like sheets, clothing, etc. Using these items I created sculptures that explored the idea of domestication as an agent of decay.
I was drawn to the hollow, ghostly quality that plastering these fabrics into fixed forms made. The sculptures suggested functionality, they looked as if they could be sat on, stood upon, or used to build, yet they were fragile and crumbling when handled too roughly.
A tension between stability and collapse, presence and absence, useful and useless.
